While WAAAM West is currently preparing for an eventual opening, work is going on. As soon as we have a date it’ll be posted here.
In the meantime, we want to share one of the current projects; the 1974 De Tomaso Pantera.
The Pantera is a mid-engine exotic car produced by Italian manufacturer De Tomaso. They were produced from 1971 to 1982. During that time, they built approximately 7,000 cars. They were initially sold by the Lincoln Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Company. The partnership with Ford ended in 1974 as did the first-generation cars. The last of these was the GTS model. The car at WAAAM West is the last GTS made. Ron bought it new and put over 250,000 miles on it.
The new engine is a 408” World Products engine block, Yates NASCAR head, with a one-off induction system and electronic fuel injection. The ZF transaxle is updated to a 5th gear overdrive.
